Member Spotlight: Christine B. Peters
Christine B. Peters is a third generation member of Allen Temple AME Church. She is the only daughter of Essie B. (Mingo) Lewis of Eufaula, Alabama and Jerry L. Blanton Sr., of Columbus, Georgia and the granddaughter of Ella Barnes-Mingo (all deceased). After moving to Boston with her dad at the age of 12, she graduated from the prestigious Girls High School and attended Boston Clerical School of Business where she majored in accounting.
Employment History: Lab Technician at Boston Lying In Hospital; Accounting Clerk at the Boston Federal Reserve Bank; a line supervisor for the International Banking Company (Hostess & Wonder Bread), as well as a Customer Service Tech with IBM of Newton, Massachusetts.
After returning to Columbus, Christine attended Columbus College (now Columbus State University), received a certificate from the Muscogee County Police Department for attending the Citizens Law Enforcement Academy, as well as participating in many community leadership and empowerment classes. Employers in Columbus include: Allstate, Inc., The Columbus Housing Authority (retired), and is currently working for The Muscogee County School District as a Bus Monitor for special needs children.
Family Information: Christine is married to Charles C. Peters and is the loving mother of three children: Angel, Ari-Ben, and Anthony; one grandchild: Joi; two step-daughters: Lisa and Michelle; four step-grandchildren: A’Made, N’Kura, Alex and Max; four brothers: Cleveland, Melvin, Elvin and Jerry, and two sisters: Betty (deceased) and Shirlene.
Hobbies: Christine enjoys volunteering at the River Center, counseling youth, reading, working crossword puzzles, going to the movies, socializing and traveling.
